A one day workshop with Dr Shaun Mathews
This workshop will introduce you to the ancient Indian science of health and wellbeing known as Ayurveda. You will discover what is your Ayurveda body type and how to create a diet and lifestyle that will keep you feeling nourished, energised and centred as you travel through your day. You will be introduced to simple and time honoured self-care practices that you can integrate into your daily routine to help you more effectively manage your mental and physical health.

The day will include guided meditations, gentle yoga to encourage embodiment, small group exercises to support integration of concepts covered, Ayurvedic teas, chai and healthy refreshments for morning and afternoon tea and comprehensive printed handouts. We will also provide a nourishing vegetarian lunch.

Workshop Presenter
Dr. Shaun Matthews is a holistic general practitioner, Ayurveda and Yoga therapist based in Sydney, Australia. A graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Shaun studied Ayurvedic medicine at Gujarat Ayurveda University and is a Fellow of the College of Indian Medicine (Pune). He also studied Yoga Teacher training at the Bihar School of Yoga in India. In 1997 Shaun founded the Ayurvedic Medicine Department at Nature Care College in Sydney where he has taught for the past 28 years.

Shaun was an associate lecturer in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of New South Wales from 1992 -2005. In 2006 and 2009 he was on the organising committee of Ayurveda Yoga Australia’s international Ayurveda conferences in Sydney. He is the author of two books, ‘Journeys in Healing – How others have triumphed over disease and disability’ and ‘The art of balanced living – the right diet and lifestyle for your body type’. Shaun is in private practice at Bondi Road Doctors in Sydney and has a special interest in Ayurvedic psychology.
